The next big adventure

Austin was offered a really great job opportunity in Lewiston, Idaho. So great that yes, we are actually going to move. After sobbing for a good few hours about leaving my sister, my friends, my Utah, my last seven years, I have decided to buck up and be an adult. It is really an amazing job for Austin and such a darling little town. People keep comparing it to Camas where I grew up, it even has a paper mill and everything! Oh, and we feel like this is totally where we are supposed to be, so I am grateful for this opportunity to exercise my faith and trust in my Heavenly Father. Austin will start January 2nd, so we will be in quite a rush to get packed up and relocate. Austin is going up this weekend so he will take a few real pictures of the town, but here's a few from our many google searches of where we will be spending the next many years.

New Addition

We added a member to our little family today...

A 2007 Jeep Patriot. =)

Stick shift. 4 wheel drive. Power locks and windows and keyless entry-such luxuries! We love her already. She is so much fun to drive!

5 Months Old

This is a day late because Mason has decided that he STILL doesn't need to take regular naps, even at 5 months. He's just got too much to do!
He is 16 lbs 13 oz and 27 inches long.
He rolls over more intentionally now, and he can sit up on his own for about five minutes at a time-with close supervision. He still wobbles like a weeble-wobble. =)
He is so pudgy and cute and I could just kiss his little cheeks all day.
He loves his feet and likes to pull his socks off.
He can now dump himself head first out of his swing, so we are done using it. It's too much hassle to actually buckle him in.
He's still not a great sleeper. It's an ongoing battle to figure out what it is that is bothering his little tummy. But he makes up for that by being so adorable that I love seeing him anytime of day or night.
He recognizes people now, and gets excited when he sees them, particularly Aunt Siara and Jess. And when Uncle Seth was over the other night he insisted on grabbing his face constantly and laying big slobbery baby kisses all over him.
He recognizes his name now too, and will turn when you say it.
He is so full of smiles and giggles and chatter, and gets super excited when strangers talk to him. He is very social and lets just about anyone hold him. He went with dad to go vote last week and the little old ladies working the booths were just in love with him and gave him an "I Voted" sticker for his little jacket.
He loves to be swung up and down and thrown up in the air and play "airplane".
He had his first real photo shoot with Rachel and she did an amazing job! He still gets camera shy, so we didn't get many of him smiling. But still so cute.
And he most definitely still sucks his thumb and pointer finger.

I put him on his tummy to let him play with his toys this morning in the living room while I was cleaning up the kitchen. I heard him start fussing pretty intently, and went in to find this.

I saw this video on YouTube and it made me cry. It's a little deaf baby having his cochlear implant turned on for the first time. The way he reacts to his mother's voice is so sweet.
